Trudeau's Rideau Cottage front porch had a notable addition Monday morning: a hockey stick to pay respects to the Humboldt Broncos tragedy, which took place two years ago today.

"You remind us that together, we can get through the darkest of times," said Trudeau.

Trudeau started by revealing that 240,000 people have already successfully applied to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit within hours of its opening.

The Prime Minister said that those who who do not qualify for the benefit are under a watchful eye from the Trudeau government, saying that those who work less than 10 hours a week, and those who earn less than they would from the benefit are in the process of being eligible.

"For people in all of these situations, we see you. We're going to be there for you," he said.

When asked about Ontario's struggle to obtain sufficient amounts of masks and other personal protective equipment, Trudeau said that the situation was being monitored, and that "productive" conversations were still being had with the United States to ensure supplies be delivered.

The question came in response to a report that over three million masks that were destined to the province were halted at the US border. Trudeau said that Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne was in "productive" talks with the Americans, and that shipments can be expected to be delivered.

In regards to delayed shipments from the Americans, Trudeau said he expects shipments of medical supplies to be delivered.

When asked specifically if the US had blocked the shipment, Trudeau refused to provide more information, saying that productive conversations were have been had.

Trudeau said "a number of shipments" from "countries around the world" have been delayed, or have not arrived with the amount of equipment which was supposed to arrive.

With regards to parliament, Trudeau said that a reduced form would take place soon. Virtual options are also being looked into, Trudeau said.

The prime minister will continue to work from home for the time being, saying he will eventually return to his office.

When asked why Canada was reluctant to say masks were an effective way to protect the public, Trudeau said he believed politicians should not be providing medical advise, and referred to Dr. Theresa Tam's advise.
