Justin Trudeau recently stated in an interview that he thinks about quitting as Canada's Prime Minister "every day."

"I think about quitting every day. It's a crazy job I'm doing, making the personal sacrifices," said Trudeau, who has been in office since 2015. "Of course, it's super tough. It's very challenging at times."

In a report on the 24-minute interview released on Friday with Radio-Canada, BBC News originally wrote that Trudeau said he found his job “super boring.” After pushback from one Canadian columnist, the British state broadcaster amended Trudeau’s words to suggest he found his role as PM to be “very challenging.” BBC did not say why they decided to change the story or if the Prime Minister's Office had objected.

In the interview, which was spoken entirely in French, Trudeau says, “super platte,” with platte usually translated as “boring.”

Despite raising the hopes of many Canadians who are deeply dissatisfied with the Liberal government, Trudeau continued, "I could not be the man I am and abandon the fight at this point.

At a Saturday “Axe the Tax” rally in Fredericton, NB, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre mocked Trudeau’s comments in the interview, saying that while Trudeau thinks about quitting, Canadians think about firing him.

“Canadians are not the only ones suffering," Poilievre responded. "Justin Trudeau has it very tough. You hear about this? He's a little bit bored … incredible this quote, I gotta read these quotes here today. He said this in French in an interview with Rad Can, he said, ‘I think about quitting every day.’ Isn't that funny? We think about firing him every day.”

“‘It's a crazy job making the personal sacrifices,’” Poilievere said, again referring to the interview.

“Yeah right, like flying off to Billionaire Island. Burning thousands and thousands of liters of jet fuel at our expense into the atmosphere. And in these 80, 90 $100,000 vacations you take – sounds like a terrible personal sacrifice. I'm quoting you: ‘Of course, it's super tough. It's super boring at times.’” Wow. Thinks the job is boring .. [but] serving the people is not boring. serving the people is what we do."
