Four times when the mainstream media proved they're Liberal government puppets

The Liberals have been manipulating the mainstream media for their own advantage and Canadians are catching on.

As Ian Fleming once wrote in the 007 novel Goldfinger, “Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action”.

But four times? Then it's just business as usual.

By now, Liberal interference in the media seems to be the status quo and it's looking like it won't get any better in the 2019 federal election.

So here are five times the Liberals put their hands up the mainstream media's back channel, courtesy of yours truly.

1. Katie Telford's "op-ed" friends

In Jody Wilson-Raybould's revealing testament on Wednesday on the SNC-Lavalin political interference allegations, one comment particularly stood out.

“If Jody is nervous, we would of course line up all kinds of people to write op eds saying that what she’s doing is proper," allegedly said Katie Telford in a private meeting.

I thought this would be an appropriate place to start, considering it's the most recent example of just how confident the Liberal government is over its influence of the press.

I'll let Telford's comment speak for itself but one thing I will bring your attention to is the sheer self-assured attitude hidden in them, and it screams: "Yes, in fact we, the political elite, can mold public opinion!"

2. Union representing "journalists" declares itself the "resistance" to Andrew Scheer

Surely, we can't expect unions to not be biased. They've become predictable and self-serving institutions that jump at every opportunity to get political attention.

However, journalists must at least maintain some appearance of objectivity. So when Unifor Canada, a union that represents 13,000 Canadian journalists decided to declare themselves "Andrew Scheer's worst nightmare", the very veneer of objectivity was shattered.

In one swift move, a very large portion of professional journalists in Canada just announced their loyalty to the Liberal status quo.

3.  Mainstream media accepts Liberal government bailout

In hindsight this point might prove to be the most disastrous for the mainstream media in Canada.

While the $600 million Liberal bailout might have been a lifeline to outdated legacy media platforms, it also signaled to Canadians that the MSM is willing to sell out on its own principles for cold hard cash.

Despite the bailout, CBC viewership continues to fall, the Toronto Star stock price continues to plummet and Canadians are fed up with Liberal propaganda machines.

4. Liberals announce "Ministry of Truth" to monitor alternative news

The Liberals are willing to use anything to maintain their hold over public opinion, even the full force of the government.

In recent news, the Liberals announced the creation of a department to monitor online "fake news" but not the mainstream media. The department, which will be funded by $7 million taxpayer dollars will employ government hired "fact-checkers".

Despite the department's purpose to ensure that only factual stories get reported ahead of the 2019 election, the government has no plan on "fact-checking" the mainstream media.

All of this despite the fact that the mainstream media (along with the Prime Minister) were one of the biggest purveyors of fake news in recent history: the infamous hijab hoax story.
