Patel said that “there are indications that support for anti-American radical groups is coming from America’s enemies overseas,” and that the bureau is “following the money.”
FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the federal agency is “on the verge” of unmasking the intricate funding sources and command structure behind Antifa, a decentralized left-wing terrorist organization responsible for civil unrest and extreme acts of violence against political enemies
Speaking to Just the News, Patel said that “there are indications that support for anti-American radical groups is coming from America’s enemies overseas,” and that the bureau is “following the money.”
Furthermore, Patel indicated that funding is also coming from US nonprofits with IRS tax-exempt status. Investigations have been launched.
“Look, the thing I can tell you is that money doesn’t lie, and the thing we’re doing at the FBI is following the money,” Patel explained. “And thanks to President Trump, we now have Antifa designated, rightfully so, as a domestic terror organization. And we have had multiple investigations going on.”
Patel said the investigations include “mapping out the money,” and that the agency is using assistance from the independent journalists and influencers that presented at the recent White House Antifa roundtable event “because they’re the ones on the ground, getting us ground level intelligence, because law enforcement isn’t able to enter these spaces, and these people are brave enough to do it.”
Additionally, FBI Director Patel said during the interview that the agency’s effort of “tracking Antifa has become so important” that the FBI has “created an entire new program and division dedicated” to uncovering the “money that is funding these operations.”
Last month, Patel vowed that the FBI would be hunting down Antifa, going after the group “like the domestic terrorists that they are.” During a recent Fox News interview, Patel said that the agency is treating Antifa “just like we do Al-Qaeda and ISIS.”
The FBI Director's comments come after a grand jury brought down a historic indictment last week, charging two individuals involved with a Texas Antifa cell with terrorism over a July attack on federal officers at an ICE facility. This marks the first time the Department of Justice has handed down Antifa-related terrorism charges.
