Former prosecutor of Donald Trump as well as lover of Fulton County DA Fani Willis has stated that he doesn’t regret the affair that led to his recusal from the case and his relationship was as “American as apple pie.”

During a sit-down interview with ABC’s Linsey Daivs, when asked if he regretted the relationship and affair with Willis, Wade answered that he did not regret the relationship and then said, “Workplace romances are as American as apple pie.”

“It happens to everyone. But it happened to the two of us,” he added.

He instead said that he regretted “that [a] private matter became the focal point of this very important prosecution.”

“This is a very important case,” Wade commented. “I hate that my personal life has begun to overshadow the true issues in the case.”

Wade was forced to recuse himself from the case after a judge ruled that either Willis or Wade had to leave their post in the prosecution of Trump in the Georgia election case. The case brought by the DA in Georgia alleged that Trump interfered with the election and Willis used RICO statutes to go after the former president.

As Wade was involved in the prosecution of the case and was paid more than the average prosecutor in the state of his caliber, it was alleged that Willis and Wade had a financial interest in going after Trump.

After a hearing to investigate the alleged conflict of interests in March, Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled that there was not enough evidence to rule that the two had a conflict of interest, but wrote in an opinion that either Willis or Wade had to step down in the case.

Within hours of the ruling, Wade stepped back, allowing Willis to keep going in the prosecution.

“When you are in the middle of it, these feelings are developing and you get to a point where the feelings are so strong that you start to want to do things that really are none of the public’s concern,” Wade told ABC.
