Did Bob Rae just spread fake news about Jason Kenney?

Bob Rae spread fake news about Jason Kenney? Where's all the outrage?

According to Bob Rae, Jason Kenney openly questioned a 29-year old's sexual orientation.

Except there's a problem with that.

The United Conservative Party leader clearly did not question sexual orientation, and most would be extremely surprised if he did, given his work to bring persecuted gay Iranian refugees to Canada.

In the video he can be hear clearly saying, “The NDP acclaimed their star candidate to take on Peter Guthrie, a 19-year-old".

A short stutter before referring to the age of the candidate was picked up by Rae as a reference to Durrell's sexual orientation.

Except Mr. Durrell has admitted on Global News that Mr. Kenney's comments were only a reference to his age.

It is important to note that the UCP leader did make a mistake here and it obviously was not attacking a political opponents sexual orientation, rather he got the age of NDP candidate Steve Durrell wrong, Mr. Durrell is actually 29.

While an attack based on age is not the best idea, it is truly astounding that Bob Rae, our current Ambassador to Myanmar, and the former interim leader of the Liberals would spread fake news on his Twitter, and the mainstream media would not call him out for it.

At this moment, the comment remains up on Twitter, without edits, retractions, or apologies.
