NDP Member of the Canadian House of Commons Charlie Angus has called for the resignation of Privy Council Clerk Michael Wernick.

In a statement released on Monday, Mr. Angus writes that "Mr. Wernick has served Canadians in the public service for decades, and I recognize the contributions he has made to Canada's governance. However, given the testimony provided by both Mr. Wernick and Ms. Wilson-Raybould, his ability to carry on in this capacity has been seriously compromised."

Angus believes that Wernick has strayed from being a non-partisan advisor to a "political actor."

This is a breaking news article and will be updated.
