Germany and Brazil kick off their World Cup campaigns.

It's been a generation since World Cup holders got a good start to their title defence, and even longer since one has been successful. Germany will begin their campaign tomorrow.

The world’s biggest sporting event continues as Group E and F kick off. Tomorrow’s three games start at 8am, 11am, and 2pm, Eastern Time. Holders Germany will begin their title defence against Mexico, and Brazil’s team will also be on display.

CRC v SRB

8:00 am Eastern Time

Costa Rica were the dark horses of last year’s tournament, winning a group including former champions Uruguay, Italy, and England, before being knocked out in a quarterfinal against the Netherlands on penalties. Serbia are making a return after missing out in 2014.

Chances:

Costa Rica: 18.1%

Draw: 29.3%

Serbia: 52.5%

GER v MEX

11:00 am Eastern Time

World champions Germany are expected to win this group, and Mexico are considered to be their strongest challengers. The group also includes Sweden, who knocked out Italy and the Netherlands in qualifying, and Korea.

Chances:

Germany: 66.1%

Draw: 21.3%

Mexico: 12.6%

BRA v SUI

2:00 pm Eastern Time

Brazil are the favourites to win the World Cup. They faced a bitter exit 4 years ago when they were hosts, but found redemption by winning the Olympic gold medal 2 years later when they were also hosts.

Chances:

Brazil: 69.5%

Draw: 20.2%

Switzerland: 10.3%
