A Portland woman has pleaded guilty to stealing over $10,000 from the Portland Woman's March today.

Rebekah Katherine Brewis, formerly Jorey Brewis, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated theft. She was sentenced to nearly two years in prison, the Multnomah County Distract Attorney said Thursday.

An investigation into Brewis found that she solicited donations from the community after fundraising for the woman's march through her organization, PDX Trans Pride. According to The Oregonian, PDX Trans Pride was never listed as a legal non-profit with the ability to take tax deductible donations.

The funds were then sent directly into her account. When the women's march asked Brewis for the funds, Brewis held on to the funds and law enforcement was notified.

Brewis had previously been sentenced for robbery and spent 70 months in male state prisons—something she objected to.  She reportedly had numerous conflicts with inmates, including assault with contraband. Since then, she has been under "constant watch" by her hospital after she exhibited self-injurious behaviour.
