The provincial BC Liberals have long been very different than their federal counterparts, in many’s acting as a home to the provinces Conservative business elite and Liberal socialites.
It seems though British Columbia may have elected a Liberal through and through as Andrew Wilkinson has donated to the Federal Liberal party until very recently.
These donations are very important as, given Andrew’s likely support for Trudeau’s style of Liberalism, he could find himself at odds with the Conservative factions of the Liberal base.
In BC at this moment there is a robust New Democrat Party, a growing Green movement, and now a potentially very Liberal – Liberal party.
This large number of left-leaning movements could open up space on the right and potentially breath life into the provinces currently fledgeling Conservative movement.
What is your opinion? Do these donations affect your choice? Is there space for a real Conservative movement in British Columbia?
