Scott Reid, the Senior Advisor and Director of Communications to former Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin, recently had what can only be described as a total meltdown in response to a tweet from Ontario Proud.

How did this all begin?

David Akin made the point on Twitter that a connection between Wynne and Martin may not be the best at this moment, making a reference to Scott Reid.

Below is the discussion between David Akin, Ontario Proud, Omar Yar Khan, Scott Reid, and Ryan O’Conner.

The lawyer for Ontario Proud then attempted to reasonably respond to the comments made by Scott Reid with the following tweet:

To which Scott responded with the following message:

O’Connor provided a powerful rebuttal, neatly crystallizing the current ails of the Canadian “Liberal” movement.

I can sympathize with Reid’s histrionics. After all, it’s no fun losing catastrophically – let alone doing so twice!

Seeing Ontario Proud dismantle the Liberal movement “one meme at a time” must be even harder.

Regardless, actions like this demonstrate why the Liberal party is failing.

Individuals like Scott Reid, and ostensibly the Wynne government today, feel entitled to the vote of the common man.

Liberals often assume that good intentions and virtuous language are sufficient.

As with Martin, Wynne is realizing today that intentions aren’t enough.

People want a clear vision with clear results. Kathleen Wynne and her government have provided neither.

Sadly, individuals like Scott Reid will choose to continue lashing out at groups like Ontario Proud.

Maybe a little personal reflection could go a long way.

  1. Liberals will always swear they believe in Diversity except for diversity of opinion, then their true colours come out. Liberalism is a mental illness.
