The Prime Minister has apologized to the former Justice Minister and former Minister of Veterans Affairs, Jody Wilson-Raybould.

Since the SNC-Lavalin scandal broke, several anonymous comments and controversial cartoons have appeared referencing Jody Wilson-Raybould.

"I wasn't quick enough to condemn, in unequivocal terms, the  comments and commentary and cartoons about her last week," said Trudeau. "They were absolutely unacceptable and I should have done it sooner."

One cartoon depicted the Prime Minister with Jody Wilson-Raybould in a boxing ring, where she is tied to a chair and gagged at the mouth.

In the cartoon the gag was meant to be a symbol of Wilson-Raybould's solicitor-client privilege which she cites as the reason for her silence on the issue.

Several anonymous sources from within the Liberal government have referenced to Wilson-Raybould as being difficult to work with and a thorn in the government's side.

The apology comes a day after the former Justice Minister met with the Liberal cabinet before question period in the House of Commons yesterday.

After the private meeting Wilson-Raybould assumed her seat among other cabinet members in the Liberal side of the aisle.
