Joe Exotic, the flamboyant gun-shooting big cat lover from Netflix's hit documentary Tiger King, has contracted coronavirus.

Exotic, 57, contracted the virus from his Texas jail after being exposed by other prisoners. He is serving 22 years for charges of animal abuse and attempted murder for hire.

Exotic had been in isolation after news broke that prisoners in the jail had contracted it. A report from the prison has confirmed that Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, contracted the virus.

His fourth husband, Dillon Passage, told Andy Cohen on SiriusXM: "We speak like three to five times every day, but since he’s been moved to this new facility, they are putting him on a COVID-19 isolation because of the previous jail he was at, there were cases ... I've yet to speak with him since he's moved."

Dillon confirmed that Exotic was in self-quarantine during their last call.

Exotic was imprisoned last year after paying $3,000 to kill Carole Baskin, who some believe killed her husband and fed him to tigers. Exotic would gain notoriety for, amongst other things, making a song called "Here kitty, kitty" in which he hired a Baskin look-alike to feed meat to tigers for his music video.
