“Hijab Scissors Attack” in Scarborough confirmed FAKE

Toronto police say an attack on an 11-year-old girl in a hijab did not happen as reported.

“After a detailed investigation, police have determined that the events described in the original news release did not happen,” police said in a news release Monday. “The investigation is concluded.”

Background: Khawlah Noman said Friday that a man attempted twice to cut off her hijab as she walked to school. Police previously characterized the attack as a hate crime.

  • the press charges against the girl she is trying to spread hate if a white canadain did that the cops would press charges

  • There are no excuses for lying to the police and making false allegations, however she is an 11 year old girl and I wonder what would lead her to do this. Could she have been bullied at school because of her hejab? Could there have been some sort of pressure from her family? It's a difficult situation to understand.

  • She and her family should be charged for inciting hatred and if not for that, then something for wasting the resources to uncover that she and her family fabricated the whole thing.

    • Mischief as the very least. A hate crime charge would also be appropriate. Charge the local mosque , where they got the idea, and learned how to contact media. Tdssb should also be charged with mischief.

  • Toronto Police should be ashamed of themselves not laying mischief charges on this kid and potentially any family members involved. It disgusts me that to the extent that this story went to (international status) including the amount of tax payers money spent on this, that there is zero accountability for this travesty. You just let down a whole country and set a precedence for acceptability of hate crimes towards non-islam people and tax paying Canadians. If it was the other way around it would be a different story wouldn't it??!! Sickening.

  • OR is it possible this 11 year old girl was simply looking for attention or for a reason not to wear her hijab? I highly doubt this was some sort of sinister plot. 11 year olds have been known to make things up.

  • It's an 11 year old. It's fucked what happened and in annoyed. But it's still just an 11 year old girl.

    • Welcome in the canadian culprits club! Before we have been alone, now (too much educated, too much civilised, not fanatically religious) asians too are guilty.

  • By chance it didn't happen in Québec, where liberal politicians would automatically use it to accuse the french majority of racism and islamophobia and fabricate more fake news about extreme-right nationalism.
