Doug Ford doesn't care about you, and that's pretty cool

Doug Ford has gotten his hands on a government in which he can change lots of things quickly. Everything from sex-ed to OSAP has felt the reign of Ford, and it's interesting to watch. In the world of politics in which we live, it's often said that nothing gets done.

Does Doug Ford just get to do whatever he wants? I guess so, right?

Does anyone know how long Doug Ford has been in office for? I really can’t tell if it’s been two months or two years. It feels as though the Ford government has gone into office, and pretty much just done whatever the hell it wants.

Folks, Doug Ford is surely not the most charming of politicians. He doesn’t talk like other politicians, he doesn’t really try to win people over, and he doesn’t really seem to care about anything besides getting things done.

In the past few months since entering office as Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford has come in full force, like a PCP wrecking ball, doing just about anything that he wants. It seems as though action took place quite quickly.

Doug Ford has gotten his hands on a government in which he can change lots of things quickly. Everything from sex-ed to OSAP has felt the reign of Ford, and it's interesting to watch. In the world of politics in which we live, it's often said that nothing gets done.

People generally complain about voting someone in with a red tie, them doing poorly and not following up on their promises, everyone getting tired of the red ties, then voting in someone with a blue tie, just for them to do the same thing over again. Thus continuing the cycle, and presenting us with what we know today as democratic politics. The dog and pony show, the same old song and dance.

So when a politician comes along and just sort of does whatever he wants, isn't that kind of cool in a way? It's a bit dangerous, and perhaps that is part of the fun of it. We are all so used to seeing nothing get done, that when a monsoon of political change comes crashing down on us out of nowhere, no one is ready for it.

Some are thrilled. There are people of like small business owners that are surely rejoicing over the halt to the $15 minimum wage hike. There are surely cultural conservatives of more traditional backgrounds that aren't comfortable with radical changes to sex-ed.

There are surely some rich-kids’ parents that aren't overly hyped that their kid won't be able to apply for OSAP, and that they will have to cough up some dough. And there wasn't a guy named Jordan across Ontario that wasn't completely thrilled about buck-a-beer.

I went to Ontario recently and the gas prices were so low my jaw dropped. It was the lowest I had seen gas since I was 4 or 5, and the public perception amongst those I talked to about it credited Ford for the drop in prices. Simply put, I was in Ford Country, and it showed.

Honestly this isn't even a pro-Ford write up (I just heard some of you scoffing from here; it’s okay). I'm just fascinated that there is someone holding political office that is actually doing something. Anything! Big changes that are having real world effects. Honestly, I don't even like some of the policy that he is putting into place.

I was flat broke in Ontario at one point and I would have loved to live with a $15 minimum wage. I personally am of the mind that the sex-education curriculum needed some big upgrades. I didn't learn a single thing in sex-ed, everyone was too busy laughing at the diagrams in our Fully Alive books.

Ford just went out and fired an OPP deputy after the deputy called him out on inappropriate behaviour and shady dealings. Just like that, fired the guy. Since when is that normal? It's not, and I'm not a fan of the action. But hell is it ever exciting to have a guy in office that's just doing stuff.

On March 6th, he just straight up skipped Question Period, completely dodging any potential to be called out for his shady politics. It's corruption, and it's fun! Hell, you know what?  The coolest thing Trudeau has done in his whole life is be involved in the most boring scandal in Canadian history, so who cares folks! Let's live a little for once!

I wouldn't have voted for Ford if I was living in Ontario during the election. He came off as crooked to me. I definitely wasn't going to vote for the Wynne Liberals, and may have had to just vote for the NDP, which at this point I would be regretting.

Yes, I know. I already hear the criticisms of this being telepathically preached at me. I'm so privileged that these policies don't affect me, and my apolitical nature is actually anti-activism which in turn strengthens a government that oppresses minorities or whatever you think, but I'm just having fun. Right now, we have Vince McMahon as Premier of Ontario, and that's sort of hilarious to me. Sorry.

I don't know what's going to happen next with this Ford government, but one thing is for sure, it ain't gonna be boring.
