A transgendered prisoner in the U.K. who is also a convicted rapist and paedophile is facing four accounts of sexual assault on fellow inmates at an all-female prison near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Karen White, formerly known as David Thompson, was convicted of raping a woman in 2003 and has also pleaded guilty on two similar counts between February and December of 2016. She was placed under custody in the Wakefield jail for these crimes.

When appearing before a judge, Karen claimed she could not have committed the assaults as she is not attracted to females and suffers from erectile dysfunction. Among the allegations Karen White stands accused of indecency, inappropriate comments, physical groping and kissing a fellow inmate.

While Karen White began identifying as a woman in 2014, friends claim that she does not have gender dysphoria and is a drag artist instead.

While still identifying as David Thompson, Karen was convicted in 2001 for two offences involving indecency to a minor. Karen also has an ex-wife and son.

The convict was placed in the all-female jail to accommodate her gender identity with accordance to the law. However Prison Services have since apologized for their “mistake” regarding the case.

“While we work to manage all prisoners, including those who are transgender, sensitively and in line with the law, we are clear that the safety of all prisoners must be our absolute priority,” said a spokesman for Prison Services.

  1. I am not really sure what to make of this article. Transgender or not.. they should still be put in the appropriate prison for their physical gender. Setting that aside.. charged with rape and put in a all womens prison because he identifies as a woman.. ouch.. talk about getting into the candy store.

Still from what I understand rape/sexual abuse is a huge problem in men’s prisons.. it’s interesting the harsh stand taken in womens.. why is it not that way for the mens side? Curious.
