In a recently issued order in council the Prime Minister has waived Jody Wilson-Raybould's solicitor-client privilege.

Wilson-Raybould was bound by her solicitor-client privelege with the Prime Minister which prevented her from speaking on the SNC-Lavalin political interference allegations.

According to the order, the Governor General on the recommendation from the Prime Minister "authorizes the Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, the former Attorney  General, and any persons who directly participated in discussions with  her relating to the exercise of her authority under the Director of Public Prosecutions Act respecting the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin."

The move comes directly before Jody Wilson-Raybould was invited to speak before the justice committee investigation into the allegations by the Liberal chair, Anthony Housefather.

In a letter issued earlier today, the former Justice Minister declined Housefather's invitation, claiming that she would only appear once it was clear that her solicitor-client privilege had been waived.

In her letter, she said that if she were to appear before the committee she would like to provide a 30-minute statement on the interactions with the Prime Minister's Office at the heart of the SNC-Lavalin affair.
