Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs as the GOP candidate in the Senate race in Utah to replace Mitt Romney's seat.

Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday, "Trent Staggs is 100% MAGA, and is running to fill The Mitt Romney, a Total Loser, Seat as the next Senator from the Great State of Utah!"

"A Highly Successful Entrepreneur, who has served brilliantly as Mayor of Riverton for the past six years, Trent knows how to Create Jobs, Stop Inflation, Grow the Economy, and Secure the Border. As your next Senator, Trent will help us Unleash American Energy, Support our Military/Vets, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment. Trent Staggs has my Complete and Total Endorsement," Trump added.

In response to the endorsement, Trent Staggs told The Post Millennial, "I'm honored to have the support of Donald Trump."

"It's time to give him the support in the Senate he needs to put forth an America First Agenda!" Staggs added.

The Utah GOP convention will convene on Saturday at the Salt Lake Palace Convention Center, according to Deseret News. The convention will determine who will be on the primary ballot in June.

Other contenders in the Senate race to replace Senator Mitt Romney include entrepreneur Jason Walton, founder of Moxie Pest Control; Rep. John Curtis, who currently serves Utah's 3rd Congressional District in the House of Representatives; former Utah State House Speaker Brad Wilson; Carolyn Phippen, a former regional director for Senator Mike Lee; Brent Hatch, son of former Senator Orrin Hatch; and Democrat Caroline Gleich, who identifies as a climate activist, among others.
